In today’s world, there are a lot of opportunities to find online jobs that not only allow you to work from home but also travel around the world while getting part-time or full-time income.

You can earn money by working for somebody else or you can even open your own online business.  

Today it’s essential to have different streams of income. That’s why whether you want to have some extra income working part-time or work from home on a full-time basis, I decided to create a list of great online jobs.

1.Freelance writing 

Today more than ever, businesses hire writers to create new articles and content. They hire those people who come up with creative ideas for their business’s websites.  

Even though most of the big businesses have their in-house writers, a lot of growing businesses and website owners hire freelance writers and content creators. 

It is great if you have some writing experience, but what you really need to start with is your ambition, creativity, and ability to see and describe things from a different angle. 

Pay depends on the type of job, the number of words, niche, and experience.

It’s not for everyone though, it requires a lot of hard work and dedication (you tell me, I thought it was easier!). You have to work for free for a long time. But starting as your hobby you can definitely grow it into your business if done strategically.  

If you feel that you can be inspiring and motivating to others helping with your content I recommend that you start it. 

Blogging can generate money with ad revenue, sponsor posts, affiliate marketing, selling your own products, and so on.

This job is very popular nowadays because there are lots of businesses operating online, that need help with administrative tasks and just to keep them organized overall. 

Working as a virtual assistant you will probably be composing and responding to emails and business inquiries.

You may also be asked to create and send business-related documents, answer calls, and so on.  

Virtual assistants earn between $15-$70 an hour, depending on who you’re working for and what skills and experience you have.

If you know a second language you can become a freelance language translator.

There are thousands of companies out there that need translations done for their product manuals, books, websites, and more.  

Obviously, the more fluent and professional you are, the more money you can make.  

If you’re just starting you can try translating blog posts, restaurant menus, any kind of online courses, websites, and so on.  

You can earn from 20$ up to 150$ per hour, depending on your proficiency.

6.Manage Other Businesses’ Social Media 

If you think about it almost every business has its social media accounts. 

Why? 

Because it’s a great way to communicate with their customers without having to pay for TV ads, radio ads, etc. 

Since a lot of businesses have gotten on social media, they hire somebody to manage it and I think it’s essential when it comes to marketing. 

To get started you will need to acquire knowledge on how to use social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram and how to write creative content. 

Some of the responsibilities will include: 

• Composing highly engaging social media posts to promote content and attract new audiences. 
• Help develop a social media strategy and track social media metrics to analyze the effectiveness of different engagement tactics and so on. 

If you have a sizable engaged audience you might even get started by reaching out to companies. 

Social Media Managers earn somewhere between $15-$75 an hour, but it can also depend on sales the company generates from social media which basically means how well you do your job.

Even though this job is relatively new, you can still find it on sites like Upwork, CareerBuilder, or SimplyHired.

7. Online Tutor 

If you’re looking for a side hustle with a flexible schedule you can try out tutoring. 

You can teach online whatever language you speak or whatever subject you’re good at. 

There’s been a demand for online English teachers to tutor kids via video chat. 

I think it’s one of the best online jobs because it’s flexible, there’s a demand and it pays pretty well. 

To teach English most platforms require you to be a citizen of the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. Some of them require you to have a college degree, but not always. 

Some of the good platforms that allow you to teach English to kids, in my opinion, are Education First, VIPKID, and Qkids.

Overall I think it’s a great platform that allows you to work with students on a wide range of subjects. It’s a great opportunity for people with different experiences and educational backgrounds. 

Tutors can make an average of $3 for each question they answer on that platform. 

8.Freelance Photographer 

If you’re interested in photography luckily for you there are many work-at-home photography jobs for experienced artists as well as for beginners.  

Of course for that, you must have a great eye for photography. Sometimes you’re asked to send samples or your portfolio. 

If you travel a lot you can also become a professional travel photographer. It sounds like a dream job but it requires a lot of work as well. 

Some of the ways to make money on it are uploading the photos to stock sites or selling images directly to the clients for use in books, websites, and magazines.

Knowing how to code can also be helpful. For example HTML, CSS, PHP. Thanks to the internet you can learn A LOT online with different courses and tutorials. 

Whether you are at home or traveling the world you can always have clients by building websites for others. 

How much does a Freelance Graphic Designer make? 

Well, Glassdoor reports that in the United States, the national average salary for a Freelance Graphic Designer is $58,614/year. 

10.Customer Service Representative

A lot of businesses hire people who can answer phone calls at all hours, process orders, deal with returns, and assist customers overall.  

To become a customer service representative you will obviously need to have a computer, phone, headphones, and maybe some software.  

It’s always a plus if you have previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or any management.  

According to Glassdoor the national average salary for a Customer Service Representative (working from home) is around $30,000 a year in the United States. 

You can find a lot of job openings for this position on Freelancer, Upwork, and others. 

11.Editing and Proofreading 

Demand for proofreaders and editors is growing fast simply because there are a lot of businesses and people who create content. They want to make sure that the content is error-free and ready for publishing. 

What do proofreaders do? 

Proofreaders are correcting typographical errors in grammar, spelling, and flow. They polish the content and prepare it for publishing.  

Even though some people do it on their own, others hire people for that process.
