I’m glad to finally discuss this topic and give some insights on how to organize your life and save hours every week. Because time is money and we all know that!

In today’s world life can be very hectic with all the business projects, school stuff, and personal things that we need to manage. We have to admit that we need some help in organizing our lives.

So here I created a list of 7 tips that can help you save hours every week. It’s better if the ones that work best for you become your habits, so you can do them regularly.

Alright, let’s dive in!

How To Organize Your Life And Save 7 Hours Every Week

Tip #1: Organize your life better by finding the most productive hours of the day.

Finding your energy peaks and troughs is the key when you’re trying to be more productive and organize your life.

Not only does it come from my own experience, but also, all the performance coaches, CEOs, and motivational speakers repeatedly say that.

Just think about it: when you have your energy peak hour during the day – you’re active, excited, and creative which helps you produce great quality work three times faster than when your energy is low.

Everybody has their energy peaks and troughs during the day and those hours can be different. Some people are more productive early in the morning while others work better at night.

You might notice that you also have peak hours unless you’re having some kind of burnout. But this is another topic to discuss.

So, check in with yourself and find out your peak hours to maximize your time. Once you know which hours are your best performing hours you can adjust your routine according to them.

But what if I can’t adjust my routine?

Let’s say you work best in the morning. But you need to take care of your child and family after you wake up, and can’t work during those hours. Here’s an idea.

We always have our phones with us or at least somewhere on a countertop. Once you get a great idea, but can’t physically work on it, speak it out loud into your voice recorder. And work on it later.

Tip #2: Write Your Ideas Down And Don’t Rely On Your Memory

Let’s admit that it’s hard to remember every single thing that you need to do. But you don’t want to miss any idea, any task that you need to complete during the day.

That’s why I always have my planner next to me so I can write things down, I also use software like Evernote or OneNote

Keeping your ideas and things that need to be done written somewhere allows you to always look back at them without missing a thing.

That’s why it saves me a lot of time every week when I have all of my ideas written down so I don’t have to be stressed trying to remember what was that I was supposed to do.

Tip #3: Do the same tasks in the same order every day

Have you ever found yourself thinking “Okay what should I work on first today, and what should I do after that?” Does this happen several times a day?

You’re wasting time continuously thinking of what task should go after another task. And why is this happening?

I noticed it was happening to me because I didn’t have a routine or schedule.

For example, have 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. reserved for brainstorming ideas for a specific project, then 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. for working with clients including email replies and so on.

If you cannot stick to the same time every day you can complete tasks in a specific order, where one thing goes after another.

This is the beauty of doing the same tasks at the same time or in the same order every day. And instead of wasting your time you save it as those minutes that you waste every day add up very quickly.

Tip #4: Practice putting your main distractions away

Oh my, this one is something that I’m still struggling with, but getting better at.

My phone is my main distraction when I’m trying to work on some projects and I’m sure I’m not alone!

Many people say that it’s hard to concentrate when they see a message or continuous Instagram notifications popping up. It’s hard not to grab your phone right away and check what is it there.

Recently I started practicing having my phone in silent mode or putting it away while I’m working and need to concentrate

For many people, it’s having their TV on that distracts them when they’re trying to work. Or it can be your iPad or whatever. I think this iPad that I bought a couple of days ago is going to be my next distraction.

Well, just find out what is the main distraction for you that doesn’t let you work effectively and focus on your task. And get rid of it while you’re working just like I do with my phone. It will also save you plenty of time so you can organize your life again.

Tip #5: Create Daily, Weekly, And Monthly Schedules

Why creating daily, weekly, and monthly schedules is important?

Well, having this habit of planning takes a little bit of time even if it’s the last thing you want to do, but you’ll end up saving a bucket load of time later.

Another great thing about planning is that you actually see what tasks truly matter so you can prioritize and work on them.

Time is money, right? It’s precious. It’s something that you can never get back. So I think it’s worth doing.

Daily planning

Spend at least 15 minutes planning your next day before the end of your workday or before going to bed.

Write down every task that you need to accomplish, maybe there are some extra things you need to get before starting to work on a specific task. Set some time blocks that will be reserved for each of the tasks.

This can help you be more organized and efficient the next day when you already have your plan on hand.

Weekly planning

Every Sunday put aside maybe 30 minutes to plan your next week.

It works the same way as daily scheduling. Besides putting down your weekly goals and tasks you will need to accomplish, remember all upcoming events that might demand your time next week.

Also, align your schedule with your partner and kids to make sure you don’t miss your son’s play on Thursday afternoon.

Monthly planning

At the beginning of each month, I recommend that you set aside maybe an hour to thoroughly plan it out.

Monthly planning is for big projects that you’re working on or you need to work on, maybe it’s for your vacation trip that should also be planned out in detail.

Write down your goals for the month and your daily steps toward achieving them.

Don’t forget to check in with yourself and reflect at the end of the month. This will give you a better understanding of what you should change, and what you should work on more, and will help you see the bigger picture.

Tip #6: Do the same tasks on the same days of the week

By implementing this strategy you can easily save hours every week.

Similarly to Tip #3 where you have your daily routine, here you can have your weekly one.

For example, if you’re a writer or blogger, try to stick to the same days every week that you dedicate to writing your book or blog post. It can be every Monday, let’s say. Have Tuesdays for managing your social media and so on.

If you work out three times a week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for 1 hour, stick to it.

Doing the same tasks on the same days of the week will save you plenty of time and help you organize your life as well.

You also won’t be drained by keeping all of the tasks that are in a different order in your head. Yes, it mentally drains you!

Tip #7: Organize your life with scheduling tools

Scheduling and organizing tools can be very helpful when you have a lot of things that need to be done so you don’t lose your mind.

There are so many amazing platforms out there, such as Google Calendar, Todoist, Notion, Evernote, Asana, and more to help you organize and plan out your whole life

The key here is to get the one that works for your learning style, the one that matches your personality. For me it’s Trello. I love it! I use it for every single thing. It’s simple but very functional, I love its drag-and-drop style features.

Check out different platforms, pick the one that *speaks* to you and you will fall in love with planning and organizing as much as I do!

Besides using digital platforms I also use paper planners, because I love this sense of holding a pen and writing things or crossing off tasks.

Well, here’s my list of 7 tips on how to organize your life and save 7+ hours every week. I use these hacks, they turned into my habits and I love them!

Tip #3 and #6 are the places I should improve. Sometimes I waste my time doing many things at the same but the results are counterproductive. I will try to implement this new strategy.

I love these tips. I used to do bullet journaling and that helped me a lot, but ever since I had my son 5 months ago, I haven’t really had the time to get back into it. I’ve tried doing it digitally with Trello, but even that’s been hard. Thanks for your amazing post, hopefully it helps me get back on track!

    1. Thank you for sharing, Megan. It is hard to get back on track once you have a baby, I’ve been there too. I was like a zombie-mama continuously wanting to sleep. So, I want to say that it’s okay and you will get there! Good luck 🙂

Thank you very much. I have ADHD and really dont know how to realize my needs and wants sometime. I mean without realizing, I move from tasks to hobbies or sleep or anything else. I wished you could have a tip for me.
